A Family Hubs service which helps children’s language and communication skills has been praised for providing flexible support for busy working parents.
The Let’s Talk parent sessions give families practical ideas and tips to help their children’s language skills.
Local parents, Laura and Brett recently took part in the sessions as they were concerned about their young son, Carter’s (pictured below) speech.
These free sessions take place via video calls, on a day and time that works for parents, making it easier to fit support around family life.
During the Let’s Talk sessions, Laura and Brett were shown activities they could do with Carter to help build his vocabulary.
Carter is now less frustrated as he is finding it easier to tell others what he needs and how he feels.
When asked if they would recommend Let’s Talk to other parents, mum Laura said: “Do it 100% – it has been helpful, and I would strongly recommend the sessions.
“The workshops are not only about speech, but give you tips about how to interact with your little one. It has really opened our eyes about how we speak and play with Carter.”
