Middlesbrough mum, Jay has praised her local Family Hub for the support she received in the early days of parenthood.
Jay relocated to the town whilst pregnant and felt isolated due to little family support.
She first encountered the service through an antenatal visit, where she was later invited to attend the Amazing Babies sessions once her daughter was born. The classes help new parents to understand and support their baby’s learning and development.
Jay said: “Getting out of the house and meeting with other adults gives you a purpose.
“The Amazing Babies sessions were a great opportunity to interact with other mums and dads.
Jay also completed the Triple P for Baby programme which has been created to help parents understand their baby’s development, build a stronger bond, and support their emotional and physical health.
Reflecting on the course, Jay said: “I learnt how to set a routine, and how to record what happens each day to help me do this.
“I have also learnt how to communicate with my daughter – I now sing and talk to her all the time.
“We have both benefitted so much from the support received at the Family Hubs, I can’t thank them enough.”
Jay will continue to receive support from the Family Hubs’ Early Years team until her daughter is two years old. She also regularly visits the venue to pick up free healthy start vitamins, and to access breastfeeding advice from the infant feeding team.
If you’re a parent who would benefit from a range of help and support, register with your local Family Hub.
