A support group which is dedicated to helping young men and fathers has launched a new cycling club to boost attendees’ mental health and wellbeing.
Hosted by North East Young Dads and Lads (NEYDL), the first ‘Wheely Good Dads’ cycling club took place last week – cycling from Abingdon Family Hub to Stockton-on-Tees and back.
This project gives dads a space to relax, meet their peers and get outdoors. It also improves their cycling skills and equips them with bike maintenance knowledge.
Jonah, the Birds, Bikes, Bees and Trees Project Manager for NEDYL said: “For our first event this was an extremely successful ride, despite the four punctures.
“We are looking forward to offering this out to more dads on a regular basis.”
The North East Young Dads and Lads group is part of our Family Hubs service. The group offers non-judgemental support to young fathers aged under 26, and their children.
If you would like to join the group, please contact Doug Laidlaw, Senior Project Worker on 07990 164449 or email info@secure-mail-neydl.uk.
